Where Has She Gone?

Where has she gone after all these years,
Just when you thought she was to belong?
Went down in a blaze, the worst of the fears,
Just when you thought she was so strong.

A bastard child for others' foolish games,
Promised the world, given a swamp.
Barely made it at all.

But there is always more.
There are things left to be done.

Where have I gone after all these years,
Just when you thought I had given up?
The machine blew up, the person was back,
Just when you thought I was so wrong.

A poster child for others' insecurities,
Promised nothing, given so much
And thought it was nothing at all.

But there is always more.
There are things left to be done.

I make my way to her second, third, fourth and fifth life
I am a respectful god and a mere mortal, after all.
She makes her way with and without her first, longest life,
She is exactly what her name says as well, after all.

This is her,
But this could be me,
This could be...

The narrator discovers that she has a lot in common with her mysterious friend. Some more people do.
