The traditional end-of-year-survey, year 12

! This post was written long ago. What you're reading is not necessarily how I feel about things in 2017. This blog was started by an 18-year-old in 2001. Please, keep that in mind before you freak out.

1. What did you do in 2013 that you'd never done before?
Signed up to a freelancing website. Had feelings for somebody returned. Seen my favourite band live.

2. Did you keep your New Year's Resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't think I had any. In 2014. I would like to publish. And to go somewhere again. Anywhere.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, a lot of them.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Two of my close friends lost their mothers in October, within a week. 🙁

5. What countries did you visit?
Switzerland - and Italy, Slovenia and Croatia on my way there. Didn't want to go 5 years without going anywhere and I broke that by a couple of days.

6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?
I want to be healthy and daring. I want to see my friends more often.

7. What dates from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
27th of May 2013

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting rid of what was controlling me for ten years.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Having had quite a few jobs cancelled.

10. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
My year could've been better without those, as it had an amazing potential.

11. What was the best thing someone bought you?
I don't really like getting gifts, nor I get many these days. I got a couple of books and some handmade soaps for my birthday and that was all.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
This was answered later in the survey.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
This local friend, the client he got for us and this guy who threw away 5 years of our friendship by misinterpreting my tweet.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills and old magazines on eBay. Now that we can pay by PayPal, I have to learn to control myself.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Honestly? Something that did not happen and it probably won't.

16. What song will always remind you of 2013?
Annie - Tube Stops and Lonely Hearts

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) Happier or sadder? This is overrated.
b) Fatter or skinnier? None, really.
c) Richer or poorer? Richer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Hanging out with my friends.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

20. How do you plan to spend Christmas?
At my aunt's, probably.

21. Did you fall in love in 2013?
Yes, solely to realise that it probably happened in 2012.

22. How many one night stands?

23. What was your favourite TV program?
I watch whatever mom's watching.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Sort of dislike, but not hate.

25. What was the best book you read?
The Curious Universe of Outsider Music

26. What was your greatest musical discovery of the year?
I listen to so much music that it's hard to pick a single discovery!

27. What did you want and get?
I don't know.

28. What did you want and not get?
I don't know.

29. What was your favourite film of this year?
Didn't see any of 2013 films, as hard as it may be to believe.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 30 and I had some friends over five days later. It was OK.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I don't know.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?
I don't know.

33. What kept you sane?
Psychotherapy and the resurfacing common sense.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
My childhood crush, who had a nasty meltdown in 2012 and came back all OK in 2013 and somehow triggered a bunch of my decisions solely by being there and giving everybody a nice little lesson in equality.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
I gained a lot of hate for what people thought my views were, so let's not get into it.

36. Who do you miss?
People who changed. People who could not stand me changing. People whom I'm waiting for.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
I don't want to take anybody for more than they are and end up disappointed, so nah.

38. What was the best thing you ate?
I enjoyed a lot of my own creations, yum!

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013?
Always carry a spare pair of trousers with you, and something to cover up with in case you ever end up changing in the middle of a train station!
(Yes, that happened...)
