Kraj duge / End Of The Rainbow

! This post was written long ago. What you're reading is not necessarily how I feel about things in 2016. This blog was started by an 18-year-old in 2001. Please, keep that in mind before you freak out.

This was more or less mandatory. There were a couple of p..ms where A died, and, in Lambs Shall Become Clouds, it is impied that both A and B die for an undiclosed reason. So, there should've been one where B dies and A does not die.

Assuming that B is a spectacular person, it should've been spectacular. However, it's more or less left to the reader to decide how rainbows kill people and what kind of rainbow this was. As usual, it's not what one would think of at the top of their head, but something else.

For those with dirty minds: the world being set on fire is definitely not a reference to the characters doing something that they're definitely not doing at any point in the series or intending to do at any point. They just fell asleep on the roof on a warm spring night.

Kraj duge

Lepa prolećna noć, ti i ja,
Ustala sam i videla sam dugu,
veliku, veliku.

No, ko sluša neku ludu sa vrha nekog krova?

A ja sam krenula tamo gde su me poslali,
tražila sam te međ kamenjem, no bezuspešno,

Priđoh onoj vodi, odakle si nekad gledao dugu,
Oslobodi me, daj mi da pročitam svoje beleške.
Plivam ovuda već godinama. Spasi me!"

- Ti si riba...i to povelika.

Cepala sam one sveske i bacala ti ih u zalogajima.
Teško da ćeš ti ikad išta naučiti,
no možda ti sopstveni snovi zasednu u škrgama.

End Of The Rainbow

A bright spring night, you and me,
Atop the highest of the roofs,
I'm sipping plain water,
You're sipping something else,
And I don't remember falling asleep,
But I dreamed of the world being set on fire,
Then I woke up and there was a rainbow,
A large, large rainbow,
It did not smell like I would imagine one to,
It smelled like a factory on the loose.

I saw you starring at it, sat on the antenna,
You told me there's got to be something for us,
That there are stories about a pot of gold,
That we should rush over there and take it,
As the rainbow wasn't disappearing at all.
I have never heard of any such story,
I just knew I wouldn't chase a rainbow.

- Let's go.

- Let's stay.

- There's something at the end of the rainbow. If you don't take it, you will be wrong.

- If you take it, you will be wrong!

You rushed down the stairs, all the way down,
You went after that rainbow of yours,
Which looked pretty much like a vision to me,
As it should've disappeared by now.
"Watch out not to be ran down by a train, fool!",
I yelled when I saw you on the railroad.
But who would listen to a crazy on top of the roof?
Those down there don't hear us up here, no-no.
I'm just standing here, nagging like an old lady,
I must be really funny.

Took the binoculars, saw you with some others by the water,
You didn't take any gold, you were just starring,
I don't know if there's a miracle, miracles smell better.
Why don't you come back up here so we could have a breakfast?
That rainbow doesn't look as if it was to fade away,
Look, look, they're trying to wash it down from the sky!
I'd chase you, but I wouldn't chase it, you know?

- Come see it!

- I won't come see it.

- It glistens in all possible colours, it scatters sparkles around!

- Watch out not to get them under your skin, the sparkles.

And they got under your skin, I never saw you again,
You took a road of your own, sideways,
But it looked more like one-way-road to me,
As you should have returned to me by now,
And I went where they have sent me to,
Solely to come back and search for you one day.
There's no more rainbow, there's no one on the roof.
I searched for you amongst the stones, no results.
I searched for you amongst the names, nothing there.
So where could you be, tell me, please?

I came to the water where you stood that day,
I am carrying a couple of dusty notebooks that were yours,
I recognised them in a pile of dirt on the floor,
I thought about throwing them in water, when a fish came.
"Miss perfect, I'm here. Your friend from the roof!
Set me free, let me read my notes all over again.
I've been swimming here for years. Save me!"

- You're a fish...a big fish, for that matter.

- Yes, I'm a fish and I'll be a fish forever.

- Didn't I tell you not to chase that rainbow?

- I'd gladly chase it again if it was to reappear!

I was tearing the notebooks and feeding you bites.
You will hardly ever learn a thing,
Perhaps your dreams will get stuck in your gill.
For as long as you have them, I'll be coming by to feed you.
