The traditional end-of-year-survey, year 8

! This post was written long ago. What you're reading is not necessarily how I feel about things in 2017. This blog was started by an 18-year-old in 2001. Please, keep that in mind before you freak out.

I do these every year with my friend Jordi. The 2008 one was on Facebook (and I think I got rid of it or made it private because I hated some things I wrote), the old ones were on LJ. I never did one on my blog before, so why not?

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Learnt that life depends on the way you accept things. Some, still, remain unacceptable.

2. Did you keep your New Year's Resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Yes, some of them...and yes.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
YESSSSSS! Biljana did! She gave brith to Jovana. I now have four nieces. <3 <3 <3 Oh, and my friend Ivana from Croatia gave birth yesterday or the day before as well. 4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully, no. But my father was very close to it - suffered a serious stroke and was reanimated twice on a single day. My first cousin was close to it, too.

5. What countries did you visit?
I didn't even go out of this city this year, believe it or not...hence not visiting any other country. This is my negative record.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A strike of good luck. A working camera (mine broke in June). A solution to a riddle.

7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
23rd of January - no doubt. It changed so many things regarding my general behaviour, things I am saying out loud, the way I make judgements / assess people.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Graduated from the IT Academy, found a new job. Went from total hysteria to an approach to the world and life that I'm absolutely proud of, despite so many days when everything was black and hopeless and so many bad things occuring in a single year. I don't know what the response to previous question counts as...

9. What was your biggest failure?
I'd like to forget that one, if possible.

10. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
I had a minor cold in May and I fell at the supermarket and hurt my knee a bit the other week. Everything else was just the annoyance of wisdom teeth growing and hormones.

11. What was the best thing someone bought you?
It's intangible.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
There are many awesome people I know and many people I never gave a chance before who turned out to be great.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
This year it was mostly weltschmerz, so no people in particular.

14. Where did most of your money go?
I barely had any from February to December, but my biggest purchase was this new desktop coomputer.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Visa abolishment for my country's citizens on the behalf of Schengen countries. That was one of my biggest dreams coming true.

16. What song will always remind you of 2009?
The one that got me running around a snow field while I was actually on a bus....and then, when I opened my eyes, the name of the song was on the actual building we were passing by. That was the trippiest thing in my entire life and a proof that some things can even cause straight-edge people to have psychedelic experiences.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) Happier or sadder? Happier. Was sadder for most of the time, though.
b) Fatter or skinnier? Much skinnier.
c) Richer or poorer? Same. Was poorer throughout most of the year, though.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Appreciating what I have.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sleeping and procrasinating.

20. How do you plan to spend Christmas?
With family and friends...if dad's toe is not much better, we might have to cancel the Christmas Eve dinner.

21. Did you fall in love in 2009?

22. How many one night stands?

23. What was your favourite TV program?
The Simpsons, as usual. Though I'm slowly getting into Dr. House as well.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
This particular month resulted in a hopefully short-term hate towards thousands of people who totally don't know what they're talking about.

25. What was the best book you read?
...there goes the repeat of my problem from 2008. I didn't read anything other than design-related books.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery of the year?
I became open to so much new music in 2009 that I can't even put my finger on it.

27. What did you want and get?
- The thing in 3). But I honestly and absolutely didn't want it that way. At least it's unique.
- A job at Lush again, after six years of not being able to click with anyone anywhere else.

28. What did you want and not get?

29. What was your favourite film of this year?

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 26. After 3 years, I had a rare opportunity of celebrating my birthday on the proper day (people happened to be available on a Tuesday). I had three wonderful people over for a light supper.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
- More money.
- Not having dealt with some criminally insane people.
- Not having dealt with some insanely criminal people.
- Having the thing from 3) explain itself.
- Treating PMDD.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Clothes falling off me because I'm rapidly losing weight again.

33. What kept you sane?

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Someone with amazing work ethics.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
I think 2009 brought a solution to my biggest annoyance, it stirred me in a good way.

36. Who do you miss?
I miss Dona. But I don't think Dona's missing me at all.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
I would not like to put anyone above the others, but there's someone I wasn't close to before (in fact, I was actively pushing them away) whose sane reasoning helped me handle this year properly. Two letters in their name.

38. What was the best thing you ate?
Nothing new. But food keeps me happy.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009?
- There are no rules regarding what happens next, in anything.
- Believe yourself, you might as well be right sometimes.
- If something is put on a foot, has laces and isn't called a shoe, perhaps it's a "shoe".
- The world does not hate Serbia. It's all in our heads.
